Welcome to the world of relic

Hi there, trusty young traveller and thank you for stepping by. If you were looking for a way to travel back in time to the good old days of trading card games also known as the 90s, you have finally found it.

Relic is the worlds first deck-merging game and aims to let you re-experience how card games felt in the pre internet era. You might ask yourself how this is possible. Don't worry, we'll enlighten you soon.

In order to understand the core game design of relic, you have to reflect on what made trading card games so great when they initially appeared.

It is hard imagine a world where books and word of mouth were your main source of information but back in 1993 this was normal. This was also what gave the first ever trading card game - Magic the Gathering - a sublime feeling of uncertainty.

Orgnized play wasn't a thing yet and it would still take years for the first meta decks to evolve. Nobody knew each others deck from the first land-drop alone. Nobody knew what cards would still be good in 10 years. Nobody even knew all the cards in existance. The perfect information we take for granted about these games today was simply unimaginable.

The world of trading card games felt like a marvelous adventure where you experienced something new every day and a complete exploration seemed impossible.

Nostalgia aside or as the puppet master from Ghost in the Shell put it:

All things change in a dynamic environment.
Your effort to remain what you are is what limits you.

It's 2021 now and in order to disrupt the system a little bit and dig down to its roots something new has to enter the stage.

Stay tuned for what will be the next big thing in the universe of trading cards.
